Online Bible Study

Looking for a way to study the Bible with others from the comfort of your own home?  Check out this bible study on the life of Joseph! (sponsored by the WELS)

The life of Joseph, son of Jacob.

Prominent People of the Bible - Abraham

"Father Abraham had many sons / Many sons had Father Abraham / I am one of them and so are you / So let's all praise the Lord!"

These are the words of a song often sung by children in Sunday School or at Vacation Bible School. Abraham was an Old Testament Believer who received a very special promise from God. Even though he and his wife Sarah were very old and well past the age of child-bearing (at least, humanly-speaking), the Lord promised to give a son to this childless couple.

Prominent People of the Bible - Adam and Eve

"Where are you?”  The Lord God called to Adam and Eve, the first man and first woman.  It wasn’t because the Lord God didn’t know where they were.  He knows all things.  Nothing escapes his notice.  Rather, he called to them so they would know where they were.  He had created them sinless like him.  He had created them to enjoy a relationship with him that would be their highest delight.

Christmas - God's Gift to You!

It’s the moment for which children wait so excitedly: the time for tearing open Christmas presents. It’s thrilling to see their excitement and joy to find out what lies beneath the bow and paper. But often, just as quickly as the excitement erupted, it begins to disappear. When the flying bows and paper settle, feelings of disappointment and ingratitude so often start to surface. The moment everyone so eagerly looked forward to so soon ends up becoming yet another disappointment.

Give Thanks!

Has anyone, or anything, ever let you down?

Oil flowed into the Gulf of Mexico like water over Niagara Falls. Anarchists revolted at a meeting of the world’s leaders and set police cruisers on fire. “God is good? He has enduring love? Show me.”

Children are born with birth defects. Convenience store clerks are shot. The economy is uncertain. Unemployment threatens the stability of millions of families. People still die. I am lonely. “God is good? He has enduring love? Show me.”

Take Out the Trash!

If you were asked to write down your top-ten favorite places, it’s hard to imagine “a landfill” making anybody’s list. There’s nothing pretty about a landfill. There’s nothing attractive or inviting about a place where trash is piled high and deep. It’s no fun to be at a landfill; all you can do is watch the pile get bigger. And you certainly wouldn’t want to take home any souvenirs!

Sure and Certain of the Unseen

It is amazing that with only a few clicks on a computer, we can dramatically alter photos. Such capabilities have led us to be a bit more wary. We find ourselves saying, “Unless I see it with my own eyes, how can I believe that it hasn’t been touched up? I’ll believe it when I see it.”

Often this cynical attitude can touch our spiritual life. How can I believe that God loves me and knows what is going on in my life considering all troubles and disappointments I have to deal with?

A Gift to Enjoy!

My first paycheck. $100! A ONE with two zeroes behind it! It didn’t matter that I spent a week pulling weeds with thistles in a 45-acre field. It didn’t matter that I sweltered under a hot July sun. It didn’t matter that I earned minimum wage. It had my name on it. I earned it. Some people put the first dollar they earned in a frame and hang it on the wall, but mine, mine was going straight into the bank.
